Based on image spatial frequency analysis and effective auto-focus evaluation function, the defocus of imaging systems can be precisely determined. Fast auto-focus systems for digital imaging are successfully achieved by a real time feedback control of the imaging lens. The research team have published 23 papers, owned 6 China patents (including 4 inventions), and have been taking the leading role in the field of auto-focus imaging. The applications of this auto-focus technique to variety of imaging systems have brought great economic and social benefits.
