On December 6 to 10，2010, the annual IEEE Global Communication Conference of the IEEE Communications Society was held in Miami. Prof. Zhang Honggang of FIT was selected as the chairman of the IEEE Technical Committee on Cognitive Networks (TCCN). The IEEE GLOBECOM is the high-level international meeting in the field of Information communication and network technology of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers). The 53th IEEE GLOBECOM attracted almost 2800 experts or scholars all over the world. The Conference received 4614 pieces of paper. Only 1305 high quality theses were admitted. Over the 50 years, the annual IEEE GLOBECOM is not only the greatest international conference in the field of Information communication and network technology, but also a famous platform for the communication between the related top experts. |
The IEEE Communications Society is the biggest international academic organization in the field of Information communication and network technology all over the world. Now it has more than 43 thousand members. And it has formed more than twenty Technical Committees aimed at different fields, including photo-communication, mobile communication, satellite communication, vehicular communication, underwater sound communication, network data exchange, internet, mobile network, sensor network, organized network, signal processing, communication equipment and system and so on. The TCCN was founded by the IEEE Communications Society in June.2007, in response to the challenge of Cognitive Radio, Cognitive Networks, open dynamic spectrum etc. The TCCN plays an important role in the development of these technologies on the basis of well development and deep cooperation with the international standards organization such as ITU, IEEE 802, IEEE SCC41 (P1900).
It’s the first time that the scholar of mainland is selected as the chairman of IEEE Technical Committee on Cognitive Networks. This event may greatly promote the domestic research institutions and scholars more actively involved in the international academic organization and make contributions, improve the international influence of domestic research institutions and scholars.
