Laser-dye-doped polymer nanofibers have been directly drawn from solvated polymers. Using evanescent coupling and waveguiding excitation, light emitting intensity enhancement of 3 orders of magnitude is obtained compared with conventional irradiation excitation. Full-color and white light emitting nanofibers are obtained by doping different dyes, which are promising for low-power photonic applications such as bio-chemical optical sensing.
