In the afternoon of October 14, the ceremony, in which the Doctor David Grace from the Department of Electronics of University of York was employed as a visiting professor of Zhejiang University, was held in the meeting room of the Dept. of Information Science and Electronic Engineering, Administration Building at Yuquan Campus. Prof. Xu Wen, the vice present of Dept. of Information Science and Electronic Engineering, presided over the appointment ceremony. The Prof. Zhang Xianmin issued the appointment certificate with the Doctor David Grace and wore the school badge for him. The representations of the teachers and students took part in the ceremony.
Doctor David Grace is the director of the Communication Research Laboratory in Department of Electronics, University of York. At the same time he is the Co-Director of the “University of York-Zhejiang University Cognitive Network and Green Communication Union Laboratory”. Since the graduation from the Department of Electronics of University of York, Doctor David Grace did a long-term research on the fields of wireless communication and network techniques including the Cognitive Wireless, Cognitive Network and so on. More than 160 papers have been published.
Doctor David Grace took part in or leaded a series of European Union (including Britain) major international scientific research projects such as BuNGee (a major scientific research project of European Union FP7), Cognitive Routing for Tactical Ad Hoc Networks (a major project of UK Ministry of Defense), CAPANINA (a project of FP6, 2003-2007) and the build of platform that related to the heaven-earth integrated communication system.
In January 2009, Doctor David Grace found the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) & Cognitive Communications Consortium, and worked as the first chairman. At present, the institute has already contained more than 80 first-class research institutions and universities from all over the world and come into being a wide international influence.
