The event of ZJU-UIUC Week from May 21 to 26 marked a substantial progress in the institutional-level collaboration between Zhejiang University and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC).Professors from both universities engaged actively in the workshops to address the collaborative research and undergraduate education in the fields of engineering at the joint UIUC-ZJU Institute. Professor Li Erping chaired the workshops of information sciences and electrical engineering.
In the afternoon of May 21, two workshopswere held at the 3rd Teaching Building, Yuquan Campus, which cover electrical engineering and computer engineering respectively Ten professors from Electrical and Computer Engineering in UIUC and 25 ZJU professors as well as some PhD students from the area of information technology participated the workshops. Both sides showed a great interest in future collaborations in state grid information security, electromagnetic invisible cloak, and the interdisciplinary research on photoelectric devices.
In the morning of May 22, professors from ZJU and UIUC gathered at Yuquan Campus and discussed the BS curriculain Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering to be provided by the Joint UIUC-ZJU Institute. They also provided the suggestions on the establishment of basic laboratory facilities.
