This group leaded development of AVS2 video coding standard which was finally achieved by 22 standardization meetings, over 600 competitive technical proposals in more than four years. 21% accepted proposals came from ZJU. Coding efficiency of AVS2 is doubled compare to AVS1, and it outperforms the latest international video coding standard HEVC/H.265. AVS2 was published as the national standard in Dec. 2016. Currently, China Central Television is deploying broadcasting of 4K Ultra High Definition Television based on AVS2.
